Understanding Deal Scores
Deal Scores are PriceRoom's unique way of helping you identify exceptional value when booking hotels.
What is a Deal Score?
A Deal Score is a rating from 0-100 that indicates how good a deal is compared to:
- Historical prices for that hotel
- Current market rates in that area
- Similar hotels in the same category
How Deal Scores Work
Score Ranges
- 90-100: Exceptional deal - Book now!
- 75-89: Great value
- 60-74: Good deal
- 40-59: Fair price
- Below 40: Consider other options
What We Analyze
Our algorithm considers:
- Price History: How does today's price compare to the past 90 days?
- Seasonal Trends: Are prices higher or lower than typical for this time of year?
- Competitor Pricing: How does this compare to similar hotels?
- Booking Patterns: When do prices typically drop or increase?
- Supply vs Demand: Room availability and booking velocity
How to Use Deal Scores
When Searching
- Sort by "Best Deal" to see high-scoring options first
- Filter to show only hotels with scores above 70
- Compare Deal Scores when choosing between similar hotels
When Deciding
- A score above 80 generally means you're getting excellent value
- Lower scores don't mean bad hotels - just less exceptional pricing
- Consider both Deal Score AND guest reviews
When Booking
- High Deal Scores often indicate limited availability
- Prices may increase soon
- Book quickly to secure the deal
Deal Score vs Price
Important: A high Deal Score doesn't always mean the cheapest option!
Example:
- Hotel A: $100/night, Deal Score: 95 (exceptional value for a luxury hotel)
- Hotel B: $50/night, Deal Score: 60 (fair price for a budget hotel)
Both could be good choices depending on your needs!
Factors That Don't Affect Deal Scores
Deal Scores are purely about price value, not:
- Hotel quality or luxury level
- Guest review ratings
- Personal preferences
- Amenities offered
- Location desirability

Q: Are high Deal Scores guaranteed? A: Scores reflect value at time of search. Prices can change before you book.
Q: Can I book just based on Deal Score? A: We recommend considering Deal Score + reviews + amenities + location for the best decision.
